The ILN Specialty Groups provide all member firms with the ability to pool their resources and take advantage of the tremendous strength and depth of their combined expertise. Under the leadership of the Speciality Group Committee Members, these groups provide the platform for enhanced communication, enabling all members to easily service the needs of their clients requiring advice on cross-border transactions.

Our Specialty Groups
Corporate
Co-Chaired by Charles Cowper of Gadens Lawyers in Sydney, Australia and Charles Wander of Fladgate LLP in London, the Corporate Group provides a platform for discussion among ILN members of Corporate Law matters in an international context, including mergers and acquisitions, commercial contracts and corporate governance, for a range of clients.

The Corporate Group meets regularly at all ILN Annual and Regional Meetings, discusses issues of interest via their collaborative listserv and is preparing to publish their Guide to "Establishing a Business Entity In..."
Cybersecurity & Data Privacy
Co-chaired by Jim Giszczak of McDonald Hopkins and Stuart Gerson of Epstein Becker & Green, the Cybersecurity & Data Privacy Specialty Group provides an international platform for enhanced communication, enabling all of its members to easily service the needs of their clients requiring advice.

The group has a wealth of experience advising clients on best practices for data privacy, security, storage, and disposal, and specializes in coaching clients through the rapidly changing state, federal, international and industry privacy and breach notification laws. The lawyers in the ILN can provide client support during investigations by state and federal regulators, and they have significant experience in litigation prosecution and defense. They publish regularly on topics of interest on the ILN's Cybersecurity & Data Privacy LinkedIn Showcase Page.
Energy
Chaired by Brit Brown of Beirne, Maynard & Parsons LLP in Houston, Texas, the Energy Group brings together energy practitioners from around the world to discuss issues of mutual interest. The group services the legal needs of a wide range of clients in the energy industry around the world, addressing almost every kind of issue confronting the energy industry today.

The Energy Group is preparing to publish a collaborative newsletter, ILN-ergy, which will share articles on energy topics of interest around the world.
Estates & Trusts
Co-chaired by Mark Weintraub of Clark Wilson in Vancouver, Canada, and Marjorie Suisman of Davis, Malm & D'Agostine in Boston, Massachusetts, the Estates and Trusts Group provides a platform for enhanced communication among member attorneys in this field, enabling the members to easily service the needs of their clients requiring advice on cross-border transactions. The group recent presented a two-part series on cross-border issues in estate law between the US and Canada, with the first presentation taking place on September 12, 2013, called "Passport to Trusts & Estates: Canadian Issues for U.S. Estates" and the second on January 22, 2014, called "Passport to Trusts & Estates: U.S. Issues for Canadian Estates."
Finance and Restructuring
Chaired by Sebastian Laboga of Kuebler GbR in Germany, the Finance and Restructuring Group provides the platform for enhanced communication, enabling all of its members to easily service the needs of their clients requiring advice on cross-border transactions.
Intellectual Property
Headed by Eddie Powell of Fladgate LLP, London and Wendy Miller of Cooper & Dunham LLP, New York, the Intellectual Property Group provides the platform for enhanced communication, enabling all of its members to easily service the needs of their clients requiring advice on cross-border transactions. The group has hosted events in conjunction with the International Trademark Association's (INTA) Annual Meeting since 2004.

The group most recently launched their collaborative blog, ILN IP Insider.
International Dispute Resolution
Co-chaired by Marty Beirne of Beirne Maynard & Parsons LLP in Houston, Texas and Simon Ekins of Fladgate LLP in London, England, the International Dispute Resolution Group provides the platform for enhanced communication, enabling all of its members to easily service the needs of their clients requiring advice on cross-border transactions. The goals for the group include the formalization of internal communications through the implementation of a group email address, the creation of a Knowledge Base, consisting of general statutory, treaty and other forms of legal information populated through the website, and the completion of an informational questionnaire by the members of the group.

The group plans to meet at the 2014 ILN Annual Meeting in Chicago.
International Trade
Chaired by Antonello Corrado of EXPLegal of Rome, the International Trade Group provides the platform for enhanced communication, enabling all of its members to easily service the needs of their clients requiring advice on cross-border transactions. The International Trade Group is focused on the sale and purchase of goods under the UN Convention on the International Sale of Goods ("CISG"); agency and distribution (contracts) in relation to sale of goods; documentary credit; export finance; credit insurance and arbitration under commercial contracts.
Labor & Employment
Co-chaired by Marie Macdonald of Miller Samuel LLP, Glasgow and William Milani of Epstein Becker & Green in New York, New York. The group regularly meets during ILN Annual and Regional meetings for discussions on topics of common interest, and to make and renew relationships.
Marketing
The ILN Marketing Group provides the platform for enhanced communication, enabling all of its members to service the needs of their law firms. Chaired by Lindsay Griffiths of the ILN, the group's members are focused on the following goals: Serving as a means of sharing knowledge and best practices among member firms; assisting the ILN Administration in its marketing efforts through suggestions/feedback and co-marketing opportunities; and serving as a resource to firms in the Network without marketing professionals or departments.
Medical Device and Drug Manufacturing Litigation
Co-chaired by Jeff Shapiro of Arnstein & Lehr, LLP, and Jessica Jensen of Ogden Murphy Wallace PLLC, the Medical Device & Drug Manufacturing Litigation Group provides the platform for enhanced communication, enabling all of its members to easily service the needs of their clients requiring advice on cross-border transactions. The group's members have focused on building their relationships internally through face to face meetings, periodic conference calls and shared emails. They have also been outwardly focused, developing a virtual roundtable on the topic: "How to Lose a Lawsuit by Not Keeping Track of Your E-Mails and Documents: Spoliation, Electronic Discovery and the Avoidance of Sanctions," to showcase their collective expertise.
Real Estate
Co-chaired by Amy Fracassini of Davis, Malm & D'Agostine in Boston, Massachusetts and Tor Erlend Framstad of Okland & Co DA in Oslo, Norway, the Real Estate Group has met during recent ILN Regional and Annual Meetings for discussions on topics of common interest. The group provides a platform to enhance communication among member attorneys in this field, enabling members to easily service the needs of their clients requiring advice on cross-border transactions.
Sports Law
Chaired by Johan Vanden Eynde of Vanden Eynde Legal in Brussels Belgium, this Group focuses on the following areas: challenges of organizing major international sporting events, setting up associated financial support for these events, public procurements and private partnership for building of the infrastructures. tax planning, TV and other image rights, contracts, organizers liabilities and implementation of international legislation, competition law and international property (including merchandise). The Group will also focus on the more person matters of international support for the sports(wo)men in all matters, contract, tax planning, image rights, sponsoring and discipline.
Tax Law
Chaired by Michael Donovan of Lewis Rice & Fingersh in St. Louis, Missouri, the International Tax Group provides the platform for enhanced communication, enabling all of its members to easily service the needs of their clients requiring advice on cross-border transactions.
